You know it’s the holiday season when the city starts rolling out the Christmas lights. Boston Parks lit up their trellis in North End. And naturally I knew I had to go pay it a visit. Let me just say, there’s nothing quite like a tunnel that envelopes you in a soft blue hue.
I’m learning very quickly that Christmas lights are difficult to photograph and make interesting. I tend to underexpose to preserve the details of the lights, but then I lose any hint of the subject of interest. But if I want to try and expose for the subjects, my image get’s a bit too grainy from the higher ISO. As I write this, there’s an annual Christmas tree lighting that I will be shooting later this week where I plan on trying new ways to photograph Christmas lights at night.
All is calm. All is bright.
