A few weeks ago I had the honor of shooting some engagement-type photos for a couple in Boston. They’ve been married for a while, but never had the opportunity to take proper pictures for themselves. They were also leaving Boston in the next few months, so this would also be a way to remember their time at MIT. When asked if I wanted to do the shoot, I was excited to take the opportunity.

It has been a long time since I’ve had the chance to take photos for a couple, and but I immediately jumped back into it. Golden hour lighting and scenic backgrounds made for a great place to take pictures. If I had to do it over, I would have tried to shoot more with my 85, just because I’m so comfortable with it. But in order to place some emphasis on the location, I opted to go wider to get the full environment in the shot as well. The last few shots were done with my 85, and it just feels that much more intimate.

I’ve also found a new found respect for wedding photographers. It was an exhausting week to put together all of the photos, especially with the time it took to remove stragglers from some of the backgrounds. But I think the satisfaction of putting everything together and making the client happy was a great learning experience. I plan to build off of this and increase my prices for these types of shoots in the future.

Congratulations Danny & Kitty! I’m hope you both will be happy together for a very long time.
