I recently had a conversation with someone about progress, and it had me thinking. I have the opinion that everyone is on their own path – whether it’s school, a new job, or life in general. Different people hit different milestones in their lives. That’s just the way it is. But at no point should one think that their path is any better or worse than others just because they haven’t hit that milestone yet.
It’s also so important to bring others up with you. If you’re moving forward, it’s up to you to lift those around you. It doesn’t help anyone to step on those that are less fortunate. Be kind. The world needs a lot more of that right now.
I recently hit a major milestone in my life myself, and I’m at a loss for what to do about it. I’m proud of it and I’ve worked hard to earn it, especially after all of the adversity and mud I had to march through in order to get it. And yet I’m afraid to celebrate it just because of my concern for others. Instead, I internalize it and use this little medal to push me farther along my path to the next goal.
Run your race. Keep marching along that path. You’re making progress, even if you think that you’re standing still. I promise. Keep going, and you’ll end up right where you need to be.
