I made a calendar!
I came to the realization a few days ago that I had a unique opportunity to put together a calendar. I’m always a little apprehensive to put my work in print, mostly because I’m constantly thinking that my pictures are never quite “good enough”. I did a quick incognito poll with some of my friends to see if they would be interested in having a calendar, and it was pretty well received!
The next step was to find a way to make the calendars themselves. I have the high resolution pictures to put into print, so I just needed a quick and easy way to do it. Artifact Uprising is a printing company that specializes in cards and other forms of printed gifts. I looked into their site and found a small, artistic calendar that wasn’t overly expensive. So put together a very special type of calendar.
In the end, I made a calendar filled with different portraits of my closest friends here in optometry school. I tried my best to curate the images for separate seasons and also to assign certain months for their birthdays. It was surprisingly difficult, but absolutely worth it in the end. I’m so happy with the quality of the finished product. I ordered four copies – three were given away as holiday gifts and the last one is sitting here right next to me.
I probably won’t be doing custom calendars for people to order. The logistics alone is giving me a headache. BUT, I’m currently working on setting up a shop to get prints on sale! I hope to get that going in early 2020.
