The Gateway Arch is one of the US’s more notable landmarks – similar to the Statue of Liberty or the Golden Gate Bridge. So when I visited St Louis, I knew I had to pay it a visit. Luckily we visited on a Wednesday, so the park around it was relatively empty. What also surprised me was that the arch is actually hollow. You could take a ride to the top for about $14 and look down at the city. Add in blue hour and you get one of my favorite cityscapes ever.

There is something satisfying about the golden lines cutting through all of the blue buildings. It’s rare that I have the opportunity to have a bird’s eye view of a landscape during golden hour or blue hour, so whenever I have the opportunity, I try and make it work.
