Sometimes I have an idea and think “huh, that would make for a great picture.” Most of the time I put it in the back of my head, and when I get the time and energy, I go out and try to make it happen. When I went on a shoot with Angelica, I had some ideas with what I can do with an empty picture frame. One $6 purchase at Goodwill later, I had myself a prop I can use. But sometimes you don’t have the convenience of having a friend or model on hand.

So you improvise.

This was a great ‘proof of concept’ shoot where I tried to iron out the logistics behind how to believably edit out my torso. Turns out it’s not as easy as I thought it would be, and even now I’m not really proud of the final product. At least I now know how to do it better.
