What’s in My Bag – Light Modifiers

Scroll down to content

As I take more and more photos, I’ve been delving into more and more creative ways to change up my portraits.  If you’ve seen my earliest work, I started with fairy lights and have slowly escalated my accessories over the past couple of months to include CD’s, a prism, and mirror shards.

Fairy lights are a great background accessory and is just really fun to play with.  I use the prism to make interesting “mirage” effects when taking photos of flowers and some portraits.  It doesn’t work all of the time, but when it does, it can make for really interesting effects.  The CD is particularly interesting because I’ve only ever used it once, to put rainbows on my subject.  It’s difficult to use because you need an assistant to aim it off camera.  But if you can use it properly, you can get an extremely interesting effect for cheap.  And lastly, if you’ve seen my latest posts, I’ve been on a reflection kick lately with my broken mirror.

Yes, I know everything is dusty and dirty.  And no, I don’t plan on cleaning them anytime soon.
