2.4.18 – Superbowl Sunday is one of the most popular sporting events in the United States. It’s so popular, commercials and advertisements become part of the entertainment as well. In general, the event makes well over $500 million in revenue every year. This year, the Philadelphia Eagles would be playing against the New England Patriots in Minnesota. As someone who is now living in Boston, the entire city would unite to support the Patriots.
For me, I am now living in an apartment on my own without a TV or cable. This would be the first time where I would miss the game, although I’m not a religious football fan. But in typical procrastinating fashion, plans to go to a sports bar were made, and I was able to watch the game in its entirety.
I also brought my camera to the bar, which in hindsight, was a waste of time because the bar was too dark for anything usable. But it did come in handy for a quick photoshoot during halftime. Two of my friends wore their New England Patriots jerseys for the game, so why not take a few shots.
Turns out, the Patriots lost that night. To add salt to the wound, it was also raining on us as we left the bar and made the walk home. For some reason, the Boston police blockaded most of the major streets, so there was completely no traffic on the streets. If I had my tripod, and if it wasn’t raining, I would’ve gotten a proper shot of the crowd as they walked home that night.
It was a fun night nonetheless. At least we didn’t riot and burn down the city.
