Sometimes you’re in the mood to take some selfies. So why not to get creative with it
Sunny days are few and far between during winter in Boston. So when I had a sunny morning one weekend, I decided to take advantage of it. 50mm lens with a wide open f1.8 aperture isolates my eye while also blurring out my messy room in the background. Here is the before and after my edit:
I’m still self-teaching learning how to use Photoshop. This was the first instance where I tried the burn and dodge tool to add highlights and drop shadows to highlight bone structure. I’m sure I could’ve done more, but I wanted to keep it simple and subtle for my first time. Another disclaimer: I also used the spot healing tool to remove my skin imperfections, but it is more apparent if you were to view the shots side by side.
I think I want to make Monocular a running photo series. I think its the inner optometrist in me that wants to capture other people’s eyes.
It’s something to think about.
