About a week after making some steak, my friends and I got together again to make some fried chicken.  Chicken thighs and legs were marinated in buttermilk overnight and then covered in flour, egg, and then crushed Doritos.  In hindsight, the Doritos quickly burnt and were a poor choice.  Later batches didn’t have the chip covering, and they turned out even better.  Quick disclaimer: I played no part in the frying portion.  I was the one preparing some chickens and providing moral support to the chefs.

We also used a food spiralizer to prepare potatoes and sweet potatoes to make chips.  They came out quite well compared to our previous test runs of oven baking them. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos of the fried chips because they were gone before I even had a chance.

In the future, I’d like to try and use a portable LED light to try and get more depth with my shots.  I’d really like to sit down and put in effort for a food photography shoot, just to see what would come of it.  I also really love the square crop of the frying pan.  I don’t do it enough and it’s nice to get back to Instagram roots.

My cholesterol levels have yet to return to normal levels.
