I brought my fairy lights with me to Boston with the express purpose of using them for additional shoots. They also came in handy for Halloween when one of my friends wanted to be an angel/fairy.
I’ve always had the idea that I wanted to fill a jar with them and see what it looked like. Add in a bit of string to suspend the jar, and you get something mystical. It definitely was a challenge to suspend the jar, hold focus and shoot with just myself. I now understand why photographers have assistants for these types of things.
As I mentioned earlier, this shoot was also the largest incident where my UV filter gave me issues on with my 50 mm lens. In this context, though, I think the small artifacts sort of work to make the last image a bit more interesting.
