Portfolio – July, 2017
If you haven’t read it here, this photo was taken during my weekend trip to Wildwood, New Jersey for an ultimate frisbee tournament. To make a long story short, I restless night sleep lead me to the beach in the wee hours of the morning to witness the sunrise. After dealing with nightmarish condensation, I spent the majority of my time roaming the beach trying to get a composition that I enjoyed. And this was one of the best ones I’ve taken.

I’m very fond of the colors of the sky. And I remember that morning to have very soft pinks and reds that later turned into oranges and cyans as the sky slowly woke up. Composition wise, I’m happy that I got the boardwalk in perfect silhouette in the background on accident. All of my attention was trying to get the foreground of the net in focus. I think if I were to do it over again, I’d try to shoot it with my 50mm f1.8, and see just how much bokeh I can get with the horizon. I wouldn’t want it to be too out of focus though. I think preserving some detail is important for the photo to have some context.
Hopefully in the future I have the unfortunate luck to be awake during another sunrise.
